Geometry and suspension design make a bike a race bike, or not. Spec makes it affordable. Norco hasn't had a male WC rider, but they've definitely got a race bike in the Team DH.

Oh really? So the only bikes that can be considered race bikes must currently be racing on the world cup circuit? Sounds like you've been drinking too much of the kool-aid.

I'd say a great combination of both. I can ride this on almost everything I ride my Demo 8 on. It pedals better than a dh bike, trails really well and feels super solid on the jumps and drops.

As far as beefing up the SX, why not just get a Demo 7?

I've got the 08 copper Demo in a medium and I'm in love with it. It came out of the box just under 43 lbs. My small 07 Scott High Octane weighed in at 42.55 with much lighter parts on it. I'll agree that the rear end looks a bit overdone, but it doesn't feel that way when you ride it. The wheelbase turned out to be about 2/3" longer than advertised, so I have to turn the front wheel to get it in the back of my Toyota, but once I get it on the trail, I'm not mad at all. It rides like a dream and jumps really well too.

I shoulda got a better picture of it but you can see the black cylinder insert for the 1-1/8" fork. There is a 2nd cylinder insert for 1.5" forks.

You can see the 4 positions available to the front shock mount. The 3 seat mast positions for varying top tube lengths. The high and low bottom bracket settings. And I also have another set of plates for a different eye to eye shock.
